Cadet courses

HBWATG runs a range of weekend and one-week courses for cadets, starting with the Easter Mountain Activities course in North Wales, and finishing in November with the Winter expedition in the Lake District. These courses are available to any cadet from every one of the twenty-nine Squadrons and one Detached Flight in Herts & Bucks Wing.

Staff training

The period between November and Easter is used mainly for staff training. Depending on who's available,  these events range from winter mountaineering trips to Scotland to weekends spent walking, biking or paddling. These trips are invaluable for people working towards a professional qualification such as the ML, as they provide an opportunity to gain experience of new routes and develop their technical skills under the guidance of more experienced colleagues. The trip reports give a good indication of what we get up to
